Meet POWWR's Newest Recruit...Ed Gordon
Edward Gordon has recently joined the POWWR team as our Senior Director of Broker360. In this interview, we talk to Ed about launching new products, challenging the competition and his love of an unusual musical instrument…
What does your role primarily involve?
My role involves launching and then rolling out the Broker360 product within the deregulated power market in the US. The goal is to gain traction and dominate market share with licensed energy brokers in the US.
What is your experience in the industry?
My experience covers a cross section of working with start-up ESCO’s as direct and indirect sales roles. I have also helped build and sell energy broker software with an industry-leading sleaving company.
What is your favorite part of the job so far?
My favorite part is speaking with the business owners and learning about how they started and evolved their business, as well as what challenges they face daily.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Leading our department by overachieving our sales goals, and beating the competition to become the number one broker software in the industry.
What are your biggest challenges in the job?
Ensuring that our product is competitively priced in our marketplace as well as digesting all the vast features of our robust platform.
How have you found starting a new job during lockdown?
I feel fortunate. There are a lot of people out there without jobs or people who are miserable in what they are doing. I am fortunate to work for a company with a long history and a solid track record. Plus, the culture of the company and the people within it have been a pleasure to work with, so it’s made it a smooth transition to get started with the company.
What advice do you have to new starters in the industry?
Surround yourself with good people that are innovative and open-minded about being successful. Work hard, stay proactive and everything generally works out.
Please provide an interesting fact that most people would not know about you.
I like to play the harmonica in rhythm n blues bands. I especially like open mic night at my local bar.
