TUI Group is a multinational travel and leisure business. With over 600 high street retail outlets and a large office portfolio, TUI fully recognises that energy efficiency reduces costs and increases margin. Coupled with a proactive Corporate Responsibility Programme which takes climate change seriously, TUI is at the forefront of corporate thinking in terms of energy consumption and attitude to climate change.
TUI had a number of legacy systems embedded across its property portfolio that did not integrate and failed to provide the insight necessary to actively and meaningfully manage and control expenditure on utilities.
However, lack of real time reporting functionality was not the only issue; TUI also had to engage with and motivate staff throughout the business to modify behavioural patterns. A single IT solution was needed that satisfied both goals. The business decision to be made was to either carry on with trying to integrate embedded systems, develop internally or partner with a specialist software provider.
Following a whole of market review, TUI partnered with a specialist software provider in UD Group. UD view was deployed across the entire TUI estate and ISO 50001 was implemented.
Deployment was completed within four months of initial engagement. From a position of limited visibility of outdated information, TUI’s energy team has achieved ISO 50001 accreditation and can now financially manage the estate in real time. Consumption across the estate has reduced by 25 per cent; achieved by real time UD view monitoring and reporting, and modification of human behaviour. By partnering with UD Group, TUI now has an enterprise-wide solution that is fit for purpose and straightforward for people at all levels of the business to use.
